AP Recorded 95 percent Growth In Hydro Electricity Generation

Chief Secretary to the Government and Special Chief Secretary to the Energy Department K Vijayanand said that there has been a 95 percent growth in hydroelectricity generation in the state. In the same spirit, he instructed the officials to maintain the plants in an effective planning and time-bound manner so that production continues.

He suggested that each power generating station should take the highest production level as a benchmark and work to maintain such a record. He said that GENCO has registered a 10 percent growth in thermal power generation. He said that while the production achieved was 32,219 million units (MU) last year, it has now reached 35,547 MU.

Vijayanand said that coal storage management is crucial and the functioning of the plant-level coal review committee should be improved. He ordered the preparation of DPRs for 6 pumped storage projects in Polavaram and Lower Sileru. He said that necessary plans should be prepared to maintain uninterrupted power supply in the state.

Meanwhile, the state government has given approvals for the establishment of several power projects. Similarly, it has cancelled two of its pumped hydro projects. JSW Neo Energy Company has been given permission to set up a 400 MW solar plant in Sunnapurallapalle in Kadapa district.

Earlier, the government had given permission to set up in Mudigubba in Sathya Sai district. Since the 2,400 acres of government land required for setting up this project was not available, JSW has requested the state government to set it up elsewhere.

Orders have been issued to Renew Vikram Shakti Company to set up 600 MW and 300 MW projects in the Don West area of Kurnool and Nandyal districts. Permission has been granted to PVS Group to set up compressed biogas (CBG) plants in Arsada village in Vizianagaram district and PVS Rammohan Industries in Santavurithi village in Srikakulam district.

Permission has been granted for battery energy storage systems in the state. GO 55 has been issued cancelling the permissions given to Adani Group to set up 1,200 MW pumped hydro storage power projects in Karukutty village in Parvathipuram Manyam district and 1000 MW pumped hydro storage power projects in Karrivalasa village in Parvathipuram district.
