Vijayawada: YSRCP chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s remarks against the police have sparked strong condemnation from the Andhra Pradesh Police Officers’ Association. Speaking to the media after visiting Vallabhaneni Vamsi at Vijayawada jail on Tuesday, Jagan criticized the police, asserting that his party would return to power and warning that even retired officers would be brought back and publicly humiliated.
In response, the AP Police Officers’ Association issued a statement expressing deep outrage over the comments. Association leaders condemned Jagan’s claim that law and order had deteriorated for political reasons, emphasizing that the same police personnel were serving under the previous government eight months ago. They questioned the justification behind his remarks about retired officers and described them as both offensive and intimidating.
Association president J. Srinivasa Rao urged Jagan to withdraw his statements, stating that law enforcement officials uphold the principles of law, justice, truth, and righteousness, not political affiliations. He emphasized that the police function independently of political interests and should not be subjected to threats.
Srinivasa Rao further criticized Jagan, arguing that his comments reflected a lack of respect for legal and democratic institutions. He termed it unfortunate that a former Chief Minister would make such statements, questioning the implications for governance and the conduct of those under his leadership.
The association reiterated its demand for Jagan to retract his statements, stressing that such remarks undermine democratic values and the integrity of law enforcement.
