AP High Court slams TTD EO in Parakamani theft case, summons to appear on 27th

The AP High Court has expressed its anger at the TTD EO for not filing a counter in the Tirumala Parakamani theft case. It has expressed its impatience with the TTD officials and directed the EO to appear before the court on the 27th of this month. Otherwise, it warned that a fine of Rs. 20,000 will have to be paid. The TTD has sought time to file a counter on the incident. The High Court has adjourned the hearing to the 27th of this month to give it time.

Earlier, the CID submitted the files seized and the preliminary investigation report to the High Court. It may be recalled that the High Court has come down heavily on the police department and the DGP for not heeding the orders given on September 19 to seize the records related to the irregularities in the Parakamani in Tirumala and the settlement of the case in the Lok Adalat.

It has expressed its anger that the police and the DGP are cooperating with the accused to destroy evidence and tamper with evidence. A case of theft was registered in Tirumala Parakamani in 2023 during the YSRCP government. A complaint was received by TTD Vigilance regarding this incident in 2023 itself. It was stated in it that employee Ravikumar looted a large amount of Parakamani.

The then TTD officials compromised with the Lokayukta without conducting a thorough investigation into this. The High Court accepted the case for investigation after a petition was filed by a person named Srinivasulu. On the other hand, the High Court had previously ordered a CID investigation in this regard. As a result, the CID seized the files in Parakamani.

TTD employee Ravikumar was caught stealing $920 in the Tirumala Srivari temple Parakamani theft incident. Later, a PIL was filed in the High Court alleging that TTD did not conduct a full investigation in the case. After that, there were allegations that the then ruling class closed the case by reaching a compromise in the Lok Adalat. After the settlement in the Lok Adalat, Ravikumar donated assets worth Rs. 14 crore to the TTD.

It is noteworthy that the CID has recently started the investigation of the Parakamani case with the orders of the High Court in the wake of these developments. The CID has ordered the DG to seize all the records on the theft of Srivari’s cash in Parakamani, the filing of the case, and the settlement in the Lok Adalat and submit them in a sealed cover for further investigation.

As part of this, the CID has submitted the seized files and the preliminary investigation report to the High Court. But the High Court has expressed its anger at the TTD EO for not filing a counter on this incident. It has expressed its impatience with the behavior of the TTD officials. The High Court has adjourned the investigation to the 27th of this month.
