Former Additional Advocate General Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy encountered a legal setback in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, which delivered a significant verdict regarding his petition for police protection. The court ruled that Ponnavolu does not require police security and subsequently dismissed his petition.
Extensive arguments were heard in the High Court concerning Ponnavolu’s petition. After reserving judgment, the court announced its decision, marking a defeat for Ponnavolu, a senior advocate well-regarded in Andhra Pradesh’s legal fraternity.
Previously, the High Court had emphasized during hearings that Ponnavolu did not need police protection, citing the findings of the Security Review Committee, which determined there was no threat to his life. The court had also advised Ponnavolu that he could challenge the committee’s report if he had any objections. With the recent dismissal of his petition, Ponnavolu now faces considerable disappointment.
