Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar has raised concerns over the excessive medical tests prescribed by doctors, stating that even for minor ailments, multiple tests are being recommended, causing undue stress to patients. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new members of the AP Medical Council at NTR University, he emphasized the need for doctors to approach patient care with compassion and humanity.
The minister criticized the increasing number of unnecessary scans, X-rays, and C-sections, highlighting that such practices should be curbed. He also noted that many people mistakenly believe that more tests indicate better treatment.
Satya Kumar stressed the importance of public awareness and urged doctors to maintain a patient-friendly approach by greeting them with a smile.
