AP Govt. Launching `AP Maker Lab on Wheels’ To create Awareness on Future Technologies

The AP government will be launching  `AP Maker Lab on Wheels’ with the aim of creating awareness on future technologies to students in the state. The vehicles have been designed to go to schools and create awareness. As part of this, the state Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh inspected the prototype vehicle on Friday.

The government, in collaboration with renowned software company Infosys, has made the AP Maker Lab on Wheels available on an experimental basis in Mangalagiri to create awareness among students about the changes taking place internationally in advanced technology fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

As a pilot project, this vehicle will go to schools in Mangalagiri and create awareness among children. After that, such vehicles will be sent to schools in various parts of the state. Lokesh said that Infosys’ partnership is commendable to bring transformative skill opportunities to students.

Maker Lab on Wheels aims to provide free digital and STEM learning opportunities to remote areas in line with the goals of Digital India Vision and ESG Vision 2030 (Environmental, Social and Governance). The main objective of this program is to provide basic skills to students through Lab on Wheels in the fields of Electronics, Robotics, Microcontroller, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence.

There will be an interactive learning session of 90 minutes in the AP Maker Lab. Later, depending on the interest of the students, they will be given the opportunity to learn various courses for free through the Infosys Springboard platform and will be awarded a world-class technology certification.

The mobile lab will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure including laptops, tabs, workstations and kits for experiments. For this, Infosys will provide a lab-equipped bus at a cost of Rs 5 crore and will bear the running cost of Rs 40 lakh every year, besides providing course content and trainer support to the students.

For this, Infosys will spend an average of Rs 1,500 per student. The program aims to reach 4,800 students every three months. Infosys representatives revealed that the main goal is to educate four batches of 20 students each day.
