The AP government has decided to acquire the additional land required in the capital Amaravati, as most farmers are opposed to giving away their lands again through land pooling. Now, the government is proposing to acquire it under the Land Acquisition Act.
The decision to this effect was taken in the 48th CRDA Authority meeting held on Monday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. It was also decided to raise funds by pledging the lands already acquired through pooling and to auction those lands after the price increases and repay the debts.
Urban Development Minister Dr P. Narayana giving decisions taken in this meeting to the media, said that the tenders for the construction of GAD and HOD towers 1,2,3,4 in the administration buildings being constructed for the state administration have been completed. He said that the NCC company has bagged the construction work of GAD tower.
He said that the work of towers 1 and 2 has been bagged by Shapoorji Pallonji and the work of 3 and 4 has been bagged by L&T. He said that the GAD Tower will cost a total of Rs. 882 crore. Keeping the next 50 years in mind, it has been decided to build an international airport on 5000 acres.
Dr Narayana said that if the value of the currently collected 34,000 acres of land is to be maintained, smart industries also have to come, and it has been decided to collect additional lands for this. He explained that approval has been given for 24,000 acres in the Pedakurapadu constituency, and farmers are ready to give 12,000 acres in three villages of the Tullur constituency.
He also said that there is a proposal to build an international sports city on 2,500 acres across the Hyderabad National Highway. He explained that there is already a sports city core area of 120 acres in the capital. He said that additional land will be acquired for international sports facilities.
The Minister explained that the entire activity will be between the Krishna River, national highways and the Inner Ring Road. He said that the authority meeting decided to exempt educational and medical institutions within the capital from registration fees. He said that discussions are underway with a Singapore company on the establishment of a seed business district.
