AP CID Taken Up probe Into Fraud In Palnadu ICICI Banks

AP CID officials have taken up investigation into the irregularities of ICICI Bank branches at Chilakaluripet and Narasaraopet in Palnadu district. The officials interrogated the Chilakaluripet bank staff under the supervision of CID Additional SP Adinarayana and CID CI Sanjeev Kumar from 11 am in the case of cheating victims with fixed deposits.

CID Additional SP Adinarayana said that an investigation is underway into the irregularities in Chilakaluripet and Narasaraopet branches of ICICI Bank. He said they have received a complaint alleging Naresh Chandrasekhar, who worked as a manager in Vijayawada branch along with these two branches, has diverted the money of 72 clients.

ICICI Vijayawada Zonal Manager Dinesh Mehra complained to the CID that a total of Rs. 28 crore had disappeared in three branches, and the staff and customers of ICICI Bank in Chilakaluripet were being investigated. The Additional SP said that he is collecting details from the victims and clarified that strict action will be taken against those responsible after conducting a thorough investigation.

They are probing into roles in diversion of customer’s fixed deposits and how much cash was diverted. The CID officials are continuing the investigation after closing the doors of the bank and preventing anyone from entering or leaving.

On the other hand, a protest was done in front of the bank demanding justice for the affected customers. They demanded that action should be taken against the bank staff involved in the fraud. Chilakaluripet MLA Prathipati Pullarao stood by the affected customers. He asked the bank officials to do justice to the victims.

The victims recently went to the bank and protested as the fixed deposit interest was not credited to the account for 2 months. The bank staff expressed surprise when they said that the fixed deposit bonds were invalid and there was no cash or gold in them. Realizing that they were cheated, they approached the police. The police handed over the case to the CID.
