Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to become a prime investment destination through its newly approved Electronics Manufacturing Policy, Minister Kolusu Parthasarathi announced on Thursday. Addressing the media after the cabinet meeting, the minister said the policy aims to provide incentives from both central and state governments to attract major investments in the electronics sector.
He noted that states like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu have already reaped the benefits of dedicated electronics manufacturing policies. Andhra Pradesh had so far lacked a focused approach, which hindered industrial incentives. The new policy targets a $150 billion business potential, with several electronics and IT firms already expressing interest in investing, especially in Visakhapatnam. The cabinet has also cleared various proposals forwarded by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB).
Among the key approvals is Sify Technologies’ proposal to establish a ₹16,466 crore data center in Visakhapatnam. The cabinet sanctioned 3.6 acres of land in Madhurawada for the project, which is expected to significantly boost the state’s digital infrastructure and employment opportunities in the region.
