AP Assembly To Hold Budget session From Feb 24th

The AP government is taking steps to hold assembly budget sessions. The government is preparing to hold assembly budget sessions in the state from 24th of this month. There are huge expectations on this as it is the full budget that will be presented after the coalition government comes to power.

In view of elections, the previous YS Jaganmohan Reddy government presented only an interim budget in the month of February. Later after coming to power in June last year, Chandrababu Naidu government also presented another interim budget as it felt it needed some time to prepare a full-pledged budget in view of the previous government left the state into a severe financial crisis.

In this context, a cabinet meeting will be held on 6th of this month under the chairmanship of CM Chandrababu Naidu, in which a decision will be taken on the assembly budget session. How many days should the budget sessions be held? The working days of the assembly and the dates of budget presentation will be decided in the cabinet meeting.

It seems that this time the assembly budget sessions are likely to be held for more than three weeks. The government is preparing to hold meetings for more days and take key decisions.

YCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy, who returned from his foreign tour also held a meeting with senior party leaders on Tuesday evening, in which the party’s strategy for the assembly budget session was discussed. As many party leaders are of the view boycotting assembly sessions by Jaganmohan Reddy for denying him status of `leader of opposition’ is sending a negative message to the people, they are bringing pressure on him to attend assembly.

Meanwhile, a notification has been issued appointing financial committees in the AP legislature by the Speaker Ch. Ayyannapatrudu. The notification has been issued officially announcing the chairmen of the Public Accounts Committee, Public Sector Undertakings Committee and Estimates Committee.

The notification states that the appointment of Pulavarthi Ramanjaneyulu as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Kuna Ravikumar as the Chairman of the Public Sector Undertakings Committee and Vegulla Jogeswara Rao as the Chairman of the Estimates Committee is being approved. Nine members from 175 MLAs and three members from 58 Legislative Council members have been appointed to the three committees.
