Despite widespread criticism and trolling, the YSR Congress party led by former Chief Minister and present Pulivendula MLA YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to boycott the assembly sessions in Andhra Pradesh that will commence from today morning in Amaravati.
All 11 MLAs of YSR Congress party including YS Jagan won’t take part in these sessions as per the latest reports from Tadepalli camp office. The party high command has reportedly taken the call as the ruling party and its speaker decided not to extend the Opposition Status even though YSRCP is the only opposition in the assembly excluding the 164 MLAs won by NDA coalition parties.
The reports further state that while Jagan Mohan Reddy will completely stay away from taking part in the assembly sessions, the remaining 10 MLAs will attend the house during question hours whenever they need to answer any queries relating to their constituencies.
YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and his MLAs attend the assembly only on the first day of the sessions in June this year. Since then, they have been boycotting the house despite the fact that the speaker has promised to allot adequate time for YSRCP MLAs to discuss about government policies.
In his recent media interaction, Jagan declared that his party will address a press meet through out the time during assembly sessions to question the government. His decision was met with acute criticism from all quarters as attending the assembly is an obligation on the part of every elected representative.
Even Jagan’s sister and Congress party president YS Sharmila also lashed out at him for skipping assembly sessions. She demanded all 11 MLAs of YSR Congress party to resign if they don’t have guts to face the ruling party in the house.
Meanwhile, the government of Andhra Pradesh is gearing up to present the first full scale budget after it came to power in June this year. Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav will table the budget and announce the outlays for several key sectors.
