Anupama Parameswaran Appeals for Recognition of Experimental Films

Actress Anupama Parameswaran has highlighted the challenges faced by experimental and female-centric films in receiving fair audience appreciation. Speaking at a “Thanks Meet” organized by the team of her recently released film Parada in Hyderabad on Monday, Anupama expressed concern over the criticism the film has received.

She noted that while commercial films often escape scrutiny despite flaws, experimental films are held to higher standards. “I put my heart into Parada, yet some are focusing on minor flaws simply because it is an experimental, lady-oriented project. Recognizing the effort behind such films would encourage more innovative storytelling,” she said.

Director Praveen Kandregula, visibly emotional at the event, echoed her sentiments. He said the film was made with faith in Telugu audiences’ appreciation of strong stories, but some are overlooking content to focus on minor mistakes. “It is too early to criticize a film just days after its release. Anupama’s courage to play a character whose face is not shown is commendable. She deserves a national award for this performance,” he stated. Actor Rag Mayur also attended the event.
