Another key Accused In AP Liquor Scam Sajjala Sridhar Reddy Arrested

SIT officials have arrested another key accused in the liquor scam that took place during Jaganmohan Reddy’s tenure Sajjala Sridhar Reddy (A6), owner of SPY Agro Industries in Nandyal, was taken into custody in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. While Raj Kasireddy is the mastermind of the entire liquor scam, Sajjala Sridhar Reddy played a key role in threatening and pressuring companies to pay commissions.

He is also a close relative of Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, who is a close aide of Jaganmohan Reddy. It is known that Raj Kasireddy (A1) and his son-in-law Chanakya (A8) have already been arrested by SIT officials in the liquor scam. SIT officials have collected information that Sridhar Reddy gave a share in the business to YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy and traded liquor worth thousands of crores and returned hundreds of crores.

They have been paying attention to his movements for some time. Finally, he was arrested on Friday evening and brought to Vijayawada. He will be produced before the ACB court on Saturday. The ‘SIT’ briefly explained the role of Sajjala Sridhar Reddy in the liquor scam in the Chanakya remand report itself.

According to this, a few months after the YSRCP came to power in 2019, a meeting was held at the Taj Krishna Hotel in Hyderabad under the leadership of Sridhar Reddy. The owners of liquor distilleries in the Telugu states were summoned. An order was issued that at least 12 percent commission should be given to supply liquor.

Orders were given only to those who agreed to give commissions  and those goods were kept in government liquor shops. The ‘SIT’ also identified Sridhar Reddy as the mastermind in increasing the commission amount to 20 percent by 2024.

Sajjala Sridhar Reddy, Vijayasai Reddy, Mithun Reddy, Raj Kasireddy, then MD Vasudeva Reddy, and Special Officer Satya Prasad held discussions several times in star hotels in Hyderabad on how to collect at least Rs. 50-60 crores every month.

Orders went to companies only that gave commissions. They also forcibly took over the distilleries already in AP and started making their own liquor. Their own government.. government liquor shops.. own brands! Like this, they got the orders themselves and supplied the inferior liquor made in their own distilleries. Sridhar Reddy planned to bring Mithun Reddy to SPY Agro Industries.

It is noteworthy that Southern Blue and Nine Horse, which were abundantly available in liquor shops during the YSRCP regime, were their products. Sajjala Sridhar Reddy is the Managing Director of Nandyal SPY Agro Industries. He is from Tummalapalli, Thondur mandal, Pulivendula constituency, Kadapa district!

Before joining the YSRCP in 2019, he contested as the Nandyal Jana Sena MLA candidate and lost. In 2012, he contested from the West Rayalaseema graduate seat and lost. After the investigation into the liquor scam began Sajjala Sridhar Reddy went into hiding.
