The coalition government in Andhra Pradesh has resumed the recruitment process for constables that was stalled a year and a half ago. AP Home Minister Anitha spoke on this matter, announcing that they are starting the next exams for the recruitment of 6,100 constable positions and will complete the physical ability tests within five months. She revealed that complete details would be available on the website slprb.ap.gov.in.
Previously, the recruitment process for constables was postponed due to the MLC elections. The earlier YSR Congress government had issued a notification in 2022 to fill 6,100 constable positions. Preliminary exams were conducted, and results were also announced.
In January 2023, the preliminary written test was held, with 95,208 candidates passing. However, the subsequent PMT and PET stages were halted due to the elections for graduates’ MLCs.
Following the announcement by Home Minister Anitha regarding the resumption of the constable recruitment process, AP Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh expressed his delight. He issued a statement regarding this.
“I thank Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha for announcing the immediate commencement of the constable recruitment process that was abruptly halted. Due to various reasons, the physical ability tests that were supposed to take place in the second phase of recruitment following the preliminary exam were postponed, causing difficulties for unemployed individuals who have qualified for the constable eligibility test. I had conveyed their plea to the Home Minister, who responded positively and announced that the subsequent stages of the recruitment process would begin. This is very encouraging news for unemployed candidates who have passed the constable eligibility test,” Nara Lokesh stated.
