Amaravati: Chief Minister Chandrababu presided over the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where 21 key issues were discussed. Minister Kollu Parthasarathy briefed the media on the decisions, emphasizing the government’s focus on pending projects and capital development.
The Cabinet approved resumption of previously halted projects after reassessment. A significant decision was the allocation of ₹33,000 crore for 45 projects under the CRDA to complete Amaravati’s construction within three years.
The Cabinet also sanctioned measures to mitigate financial strain in flood-hit areas across 10 districts, including rescheduling loans and waiving stamp duty on loans up to ₹50. A ₹1,000 crore government guarantee for paddy procurement through AP Markfed was also approved.
Key infrastructure decisions included re-tendering of Polavaram left canal works and lining of the Punganur Branch Canal. The Cabinet authorized the establishment of power generation units worth ₹1.70 lakh crore through a joint venture with NTPC to boost clean energy initiatives.
Additionally, a new midday meal scheme for 475 junior colleges was approved, benefiting 1.41 lakh intermediate students. The Cabinet gave the green light for borrowing ₹11,000 crore from HUDCO and ₹5,000 crore from German financier KfW for developmental projects.
Minister Parthasarathy Highlights Past Government Failures
Minister Parthasarathy criticized the previous administration for mismanagement, citing the Jal Jeevan Mission as an example. He noted that while smaller states like Kerala proposed projects worth ₹70,000 crore under the scheme, Andhra Pradesh submitted proposals for only ₹26,804 crore and utilized a mere ₹4,000 crore.
The minister stressed that the current government is committed to reviving the mission to ensure access to safe drinking water, which he called a basic necessity neglected by the previous regime.
Parthasarathy assured the public that the government remains focused on efficient utilization of resources and timely completion of key projects.
