The construction work that has been stalled for the past five years in the capital city Amaravati will start between 12th and 15th of this month. The date for this will be fixed in one or two days. The government is making arrangements to organize this program in a grand manner.
After the coalition government came to power, it signed an agreement with the World Bank, ADB and HUDCO for a loan as part of the reconstruction of Amaravati. Thus, Rs. 31,000 crores will be received in phases.
The CRDA started the tender process for the stalled works in January this year. The finalization of these was delayed due to the MLC election code. The tender process was accelerated after the election code was removed.
As part of this, contractors have been fixed. It is known that there will be no changes in the designs of the buildings. It has been decided to do 90 works in Amaravati. Of these, administrative approval has been given to 73 works worth Rs. 48,000 crores.
Tenders have been invited for 62 works worth Rs. 40,000 crore. After examining the financial bids, the agencies have been finalized. These will be approved in the CRDA Authority meeting chaired by CM Chandrababu Naidu on Monday. Later, agreements will be signed with the contractors.
Of the tenders called so far, not a single bid has been submitted for four works. No one has come forward for the tenders called for the works of NGO and GO quarters. The officials have started the process of inviting new tenders for these. Currently, tenders for 8 works have been opened.
The deadline for tenders for the creation of infrastructure in returnable plots given to farmers ended on the 5th of this month. The deadline for tenders for two works related to bungalows ended on the 7th. Technical bids are being opened and qualifications are being examined. These will be sent for consideration by the second committee.
After examining the strength of the foundations of the iconic towers, tenders will also be called for construction. RFPs (Request for Proposals) have already been called for the appointment of PMCs (Project Management Consultants) for almost all the works.
