Political circles are abuzz with speculation that tensions have flared between the TDP and Jana Sena over power-sharing. In the previous election, Jana Sena, TDP, and BJP contested together as an alliance, and the partnership between Jana Sena and TDP was seen as a key factor in their victory. The alliance came to power as expected, with ministerial positions shared among the three parties. However, just when things seemed to be running smoothly, a rift over positions appears to have emerged between Jana Sena and TDP.
Disagreements have emerged between TDP and Jana Sena in the Pithapuram constituency, where Jana Sena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan contested. In the elections for the Pithapuram Urban Credit Cooperative Society, Jana Sena-backed candidates won the Chairman and Vice Chairman positions. However, tensions arose within the alliance as the results did not align with the earlier agreement on power-sharing. Despite YSRCP choosing not to participate in these elections, leaving only the alliance parties to contest, the elections became unavoidable, leading to internal friction between TDP and Jana Sena.
As per the agreement, the Chairman position of the Pithapuram Urban Credit Cooperative Society was designated for Jana Sena, while the Vice Chairman position was allocated to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). In this election, Jana Sena-backed candidates competed in three locations and won all three, while TDP-supported candidates participated in two locations but only managed to win one. An independent candidate emerged victorious against the TDP candidate in the other contest. This result has sparked significant discussion and become a hot topic.
TDP leaders are accusing Jana Sena of betrayal, claiming that the independent candidate’s victory resulted from Jana Sena’s failure to uphold the coalition’s principles. They argue that this lack of adherence allowed the independent candidate to win. In response, Jana Sena leaders are questioning why TDP supported a rebel candidate in the second ward. These events have once again turned Pithapuram into a battleground between Jana Sena and TDP. The ongoing competition and mutual criticism between the two parties have become a significant topic of discussion in Andhra Pradesh politics. There are signs that tensions over power-sharing may escalate further between them.
