After Supreme Court Takes Up Disqualification of MLAs petition, KTR predicts Bypolls

Soon after the Supreme Court takes up his petition seeking disqualification of MLAs, who defected into Congress from his party, BRS party Executive President and former minister KT Rama Rao predicted that there would be bypolls in those constituencies very soon in Telangana. He advised BRS workers to be ready for these by-elections.

These comments made by KTR have now become a hot topic in the context of the Supreme Court hearing on February 10 on the disqualification of defected MLAs. In this context, KTR revealed on social media that it is impossible to protect Congress party defectors according to the law prescribed by the Constitution. With this, the issue of MLA defection is currently leading to a big debate in Telangana.

According to the Constitution, the defected MLAs changing parties or getting disqualified from the Legislative Assembly has become a key issue. However, it seems that many MLAs of the Congress party are concerned about this.

KTR also advised his party workers to be ready and take initiative for further efforts, no matter what decision is taken in accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court.

“Looking at the past judgments of the Supreme Court, the disqualification of the defected MLAs is certain. It is impossible for the Congress to save them,” KTR posted on X. KTR approached the Supreme Court on January 29, seeking an immediate decision from the Speaker on the defected MLAs.

However, the Supreme Court announced that it will collect all the petitions filed on the matter and take up the hearing on February 10. Now, this issue is currently raising many questions about their political future in Telangana. In this context, it seems that the BRS party will be more careful in assessing the consequences and new strategies for the defection of MLAs.

BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy has already filed a special leave petition on the defections of MLAs. The Supreme Court took up the matter two days ago. Making strong comments on the Speaker’s behavior delaying consideration of petitions for a long time, it made it clear that an immediate decision should be taken. With this, the court announced that the petitions of KTR and Padi Kaushik Reddy will be heard together on February 10.
