Actress Kasturi Shankar Remanded In Custody Till Nov 29

Actress Kasturi, who is a professional of Tamil cinema films, was detained by the police on charges of making a controversial statement regarding the Telugu community at a public event in Chennai on November 3. Despite all the furore, the Egmore Metropolitan Court remanded Kasturi to 12 days judicial custody. She is to be taken into custody until November 29 after she was produced before the judge on Sunday, following the court order. Kasturi will be shifted to the Puzhal Central Jail in Chennai.

The controversy began when Kasturi’s remarks targeting Telugu people were captured on video and went viral on social media. Her comments sparked outrage across various Telugu organizations and prominent individuals, leading to multiple complaints being filed with the Egmore police. These complaints accused the actress of causing harm to the sentiments of the Telugu community.

Initially, when police went to her residence to serve legal notices, they found the house locked and her phone unreachable, due to which they assumed that she was trying to avoid arrest. However, a special investigation team traced her to Hyderabad, where she was taken into custody on Saturday evening. After her appearance in court, the actress has been remanded into judicial custody and now will be shifted under tight security to the Puzhal Central Jail.
