ACB Registers Case Against Former Minister Vidadala Rajini

Former minister and YSR Congress leader Vidadala Rajini finds herself in the midst of a legal controversy as the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has lodged a case against her. She is accused of allegedly intimidating the owner of Sri Lakshmi Balaji Stone Crusher in Yadlapadu, Palnadu district, and extorting ₹2.02 crores under the guise of vigilance inspections during the previous government’s tenure.

The ACB has named Vidadala Rajini as Accused No. 1 (A1), along with IPS officer Palle Joshua (A2), her brother-in-law Gopi (A3), and her personal assistant Dodda Ramakrishna (A4). The charges pressed against them fall under Sections 7 and 7A of the Prevention of Corruption Act and IPC Sections 384 (extortion) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).

The charges came to the fore after a complaint was filed with the Vigilance and Enforcement Department, alleging threats and illegal monetary demands made by the individuals. Subsequently, Harish Kumar Gupta, then Director General of ACB, made an initial probe and filed a detailed report to the government. Acting on this report, the government directed the ACB to proceed with a comprehensive inquiry.

Current ACB Director General Atul Singh has revealed that the preliminary investigation uncovered sufficient evidence, leading to the registration of the case. The ACB is now conducting a deeper investigation to uncover more details surrounding the accusations.
