The Vijayawada ACB court has issued orders extending the remand of the accused in the AP liquor case till 24th of this month. As the remand period of the accused is about to expire on Thrusday, the accused were produced in the court. The court that conducted the investigation extended the remand of the accused.
A total of 12 people have been arrested in this case so far and five have been released on bail. Seven accused are in judicial remand in Vijayawada and Guntur district jails. The four accused, Dhanunjay Reddy, Krishnamohan Reddy, Mithun Reddy and Dilip, who were granted bail, did not appear in court.
Their lawyers have filed an absentee petition in this regard. Liquor scam remand prisoners were taken to court. Raj Kesireddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Venkatesh Naidu, Buneti Chanakya and Sajjala Sridhar Reddy are remanded in the liquor scam case.
As the judicial remand period ended, five accused were taken from Vijayawada district to be produced in court. Two other accused, Naveen Krishna and Balaji Kumar Yadav, were taken to court from Guntur jail. On the other hand, the arguments on the petition filed by YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy seeking permission to travel to America have concluded. The ACB court said that it will pass orders on Friday.
It is known that Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy had filed a petition seeking permission to travel abroad as he had to go to New York on behalf of Parliament. The High Court on Wednesday heard the CID’s petition seeking quashing of the Vijayawada ACB court’s verdict granting bail to accused YSRCP MP Mithun Reddy in the liquor scam case.
The hearing was adjourned to the 29th of this month, directing Mithun Reddy to file a counter-argument. High Court judge Justice Venkata Jyotirmayi issued an order to this effect. In the hearing held on the 9th of this month, senior advocate Siddhartha Luthra, appearing for the CID, argued that the matters mentioned in the ACB court’s verdict granting bail to Mithun Reddy are such as to undermine the entire investigation.
It is worth noting that a supplementary petition has been filed seeking a stay on them. The CID stated that Mithun Reddy should be given time to express his objections to the supplementary petition. The ACB court asked the judicial officer to wait and not hear the bail petitions.
