With the YSR Congress party out of power and Chandrababu reinstated as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, many irregularities and scams committed in the last five years during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s regime by his Ministers and MLAs are likely to be unearthed one after another by the current government.
There have been numerous allegations that the majority Ministers in Jagan’s cabinet resorted to huge scams by taking advantage of their official positions. In the first two months after the new government assumed charge and took stock of the situation in all departments, glaring deviations in public funds have been noticed by the authorities. Now, they are planning to launch a thorough investigation into the irregularities.
The latest allegation is that the previous government has scammed close to 100 Crores in just 40 days in the name of ‘Aadudam Andhra’ games. It is a known fact that Jagan’s government launched the initiative ‘Aadudam Andhra’ last year to encourage sports among the people of the state. The initiative got an impressive response as sports enthusiasts all over the state participated in these games.
Going into the manner in which these games were conducted and how funds were charged by the former government, it is estimated that 120 Crores was spent in 40 days to conduct various activities. It is now believed that nearly 100 Crores has been swindled. Moreover, it is found that many lapses have been found in SAAP ( Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh), an apex body for sports related activities and sportspersons.
Former Minister for Tourism and Culture, Roja and SAAP Chairman Siddharath Reddy are likely to face an enquiry into these alleged frauds.
