The CBI has alleged that former Chief Minister and YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy misled the court by giving a false phone number and making a foreign trip. The CBI has requested the Nampally Special Court not to allow him to travel abroad anymore.
The arguments on the petition filed by the CBI (File No: 18018569) alleging that he violated the conditions imposed by the court during his visit to London were completed in the court on Wednesday. According to the CBI’s arguments, Jagan was contacted 3 times by calling him, but the phone number he gave did not work.
The CBI revealed in its appearance that the matters mentioned in the petition, including his non-response to the phone, had affected the relevant investigations. However, Jagan’s lawyers said that he did not use his real phone and had given the phone numbers of his staff even when he had gone abroad in the past.
The court said that the verdict will be announced on the 28th after the arguments of both sides concluded on Wednesday. The CBI special court has granted conditional permission to Jagan to visit his daughter in London for 15 days between the 1st and 30th of this month. It has made it clear that he should submit complete details of the trip, including the phone number he is using, email ID, and information about his stay there, and that he should appear in court in person after returning from the trip.
Jagan, who went to London on the 11th of this month, was called by CBI officials three times, but the number did not work. As a result, the CBI filed a petition last week alleging that Jagan violated the bail conditions imposed by the court to go to London. On Wednesday, Special Court Magistrate T. Raghuram conducted an inquiry into it.
The CBI lawyers argued that Jagan misled the court by giving a wrong number, and urged that the permission given for the trip be immediately cancelled and that he should not be given permission to go abroad again. However, his lawyers said that Jagan ended his tour early and returned home despite being allowed another three days.
