“Amaravati on The Fast Track! A Mega Project Takes Shape”

The AP government is taking fast steps to construct a 190-km-long Outer Ring Road (ORR) around the state capital Amaravati. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for this project and sent it to the Delhi headquarters for approval. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 24,791 crore.

While the Hyderabad ORR is 158 km long, the Amaravati ORR will be larger at 190 km. It will become a key factor in the development of the capital region. As per the plan prepared by NHAI, the construction of the Amaravati ORR will be divided into 12 packages. Each package will be awarded to contractors through tenders in separate phases.

This ring road will be constructed with a six-lane main road and service roads on both sides. There will be two service roads on each side, making a total of ten lanes of road construction. Land acquisition will be undertaken for the ORR with a width of 140 meters. Land acquisition is underway for the construction of a total of 190 kilometers of road. The state government has promised to bear Rs. 1,000 crore for this land acquisition cost.

As part of the project, two six-lane bridges will be constructed over the Krishna River. The first bridge will be 3.15 kilometers long at Munnaluru and the second bridge will be 4.8 kilometers long at Munnangi. Once the construction of these bridges is completed, transportation between Guntur, Vijayawada and Tenali areas will be easier.

The Outer Ring Road route will pass through the Ganginenipalem forest area. Due to the hilly terrain there, it has been decided to construct two tunnels. One of them will be 1.64 kilometers long and the other 2.68 kilometers long.

Officials said that the road will continue directly through these tunnels and the plan has been prepared without any disruption to the environment. Spur roads connecting the capital: Two spur roads will be constructed to connect the capital Amaravati area with the ORR.
