Kakinada: Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan visited the Kakinada Collectorate to engage with fishing community representatives from Uppada and state officials. During the meeting, fishermen highlighted the adverse impact of industrial waste on seawater, which has affected their livelihoods and threatened marine resources.
In response, Pawan Kalyan distributed financial assistance totaling ₹90 lakh to 18 fishing families and provided ₹5 lakh each to the families of fishermen who lost their lives in accidents at sea. The visit comes after large-scale protests by Uppada fishermen earlier this month demanding government intervention.
The Deputy CM reaffirmed his commitment to addressing their concerns and ensuring justice through a specially appointed committee. He is also scheduled to speak at a public meeting in Kakinada later today. On arrival at the Kakinada helipad, Pawan Kalyan was welcomed by District Collector Shan Mohan and leaders of the Jana Sena Party.
