Tata Group Chairman Chandrasekaran was invited to the inauguration of the TCS Development Centre in Visakhapatnam by State Education, IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh in Mumbai. Meeting him in Mumbai on Monday, he asked Tata Power Renewables to partner with the government to develop electric vehicle charging infrastructure across the state.
He appealed to explore ways to work with the state government in the process of developing rooftop solar to make it convenient for the people of Andhra Pradesh and to explore the possibilities of setting up a cell and module manufacturing unit in the state. Tata Elxsi should set up a regional office/engineering centre in Visakhapatnam and explore the possibilities of developing it as a major hub on the east coast, he said.
Lokesh asked to explore the possibilities of setting up a Center of Excellence in areas like Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs), Autonomous Systems, Electric Vehicles, Battery Technologies, UAV, Gen AI-based Mobility or Medtech Innovations in Andhra Pradesh. He suggested exploring the possibilities of setting up electric vehicle components and advanced composite manufacturing units in Sri City under the auspices of Tata AutoComp.
He assured that the government will provide the necessary land and plug and play infrastructure for this. Lokesh said that the government will provide special incentives in the manufacturing of EV and electronic components based on the size of the investment. He asked to explore the possibilities of setting up an engineering center in Sri City.
He suggested exploring the possibilities of setting up a manufacturing unit related to the aerospace and defense sectors in Andhra Pradesh under the leadership of Tata Advanced Systems Limited. He pleaded for partnering with the government in setting up a Center of Excellence in the fields of defense and security systems and exploring the possibility of setting up an OSAT facility in Andhra Pradesh under the auspices of Tata Electronics.
For this, Lokesh was assured to provide the required land under the Electronic Components Manufacturing Policy by the state government at the desired location. He also sought partnership with the government in creating courses in the fields of manufacturing engineering/technology or in establishing a center of excellence.
He suggested to explore the possibilities of setting up a soda ash production unit at the salt lands near Machilipatnam or Moolapet ports under the leadership of Tata Chemicals. Minister Lokesh appealed to examine the possibilities of setting up an AI ready data center campus in the Visakhapatnam Data City area under the leadership of ST Telemedia Global Data Centre.
