In this context, he announced that the stage is set for the establishment of a new cargo airport in Palasa, Srikakulam district of Andhra Pradesh.
He asked the locals to shed their misconceptions about the Palasa Cargo Airport and cooperate with its development. Minister Rammohan Naidu, who participated in the public hearing on the construction of the cargo airport, revealed that if this project comes, about 5 lakh people will get direct and indirect employment opportunities.
Union Minister Rammohan Naidu, State Agriculture Minister Atchannaidu, Palasa MLA Sirisha and many other officials and leaders participated in the public hearing conducted on the construction of the cargo airport at the Palasa Railway Institute in Srikakulam district.
They assured the farmers that no injustice will be done to any farmer if the airport is built here. They revealed that employment opportunities will be created through this project. However, after hearing what was said, the farmers expressed their doubts.
Farmers of Mandasa and Vajrapukotturu mandals have expressed their support for the airport and have asked the government to provide a clear assurance on how it will support them. Meanwhile, people of Mettur, Cheepurupalli, Betalapuram, Lakshmipuram and Bimidi villages have demanded a good price for their lands, employment for the locals and additional assistance for those who have lost their land.
They also asked to know how much land will be required in each village. Responding after talking to the farmers, Union Minister Rammohan Naidu said that an awareness meeting on Uddanam Airport was held in Palasa in the presence of villagers, farmers, public representatives and officials and that he was happy to see a positive response towards the proposed airport.
He said that every suggestion and opinion expressed by the people was carefully listened to and every issue will be resolved transparently. He expressed his opinion that this will play a key role in enhancing the development and connectivity opportunities of the Uddanam area. He made it clear that decisions will be taken to benefit farmers in terms of compensation for losses as well as job and employment opportunities.
