CPM Politburo member BV Raghavulu slams Modi, Chandrababu’s silence over US Tariffs row

CPM Politburo member BV Raghavulu criticized the Narendra Modi government at the Center for not giving a strong response to the tariffs imposed by US President Trump threatening India, and even the main political parties in our state are remaining silence. He said that our Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu repeatedly says that there are all Telugus in Silicon Valley in America, but he does not speak out on the restrictions imposed on H1B visas.

He made it clear that the CPM will continue to fight against these and expressed regret over the silence of even Jaganmohan REddy, who supports the BJP without asking. He launched the book “Trump Tariff War on India” along with party state secretary V. Srinivasa Rao and author K. Lokanadham, and said that it is outrageous that the US has unilaterally announced a 50 percent tax on Indian products.

Raghavulu cautioned that imposing an additional 25 percent tax on oil purchased from Russia is like an ax to our sovereignty. He deplored that it is the right of a country to decide from which country to import the things it needs, but on the contrary, it is shameful that US President Trump has threatened and subjugated our country by asking where and what to buy.

He said that the NDA government at the center is not able to respond to it befittingly. He said that it is deeply objectionable that our central government is unable to show the courage shown by many small countries and is humiliatingly submissive to America. He advised the central BJP government to resist the US tariffs to protect the interests of the people of the country.

The CPM leader warned that the increase in tariffs has had a serious impact on the manufacturing sectors of aqua, jewelry and automobiles in the state. He expressed concern that lakhs of people are losing their jobs and  the restrictions imposed on H1B visas are also more frightening, and these have become a serious obstacle for those who want to go to America for employment after higher studies.

He recalled that America has also imposed 100 percent tax on the Indian film industry. But, he wondered that the central and state governments are not in a position to speak strongly on this either. He said that it is even more dangerous to pressure our country to lift the tax on what America exports.

If this happens, Raghavulu warned that all the farmers who produce corn, dairy and agricultural products in the state will suffer serious losses, and he wanted the TDP and Janasena parties in power in the state to put pressure on the central government on this. He said that it is not right for the YSRCP, which is the main opposition, to be at least a little indifferent to this.
