The “Alay Balay” festival, which is held every year to celebrate Dussehra, was held with great pomp this year too. The Alay Balay Foundation, under the auspices of former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya, is organizing this festival for the 20th time in 2025. The festival was held at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds, showcasing the cultural diversity of Telangana and paying tribute to the heroes who sacrificed their lives in national service.
The Alay Balay program is being held under the auspices of former Governor Bandaru Dattatreya’s daughter Vijayalakshmi to showcase the state’s culture, traditions and food habits. On this occasion, Dattatreya played Bathukamma along with the women. Later, he played the VH drum along with the artists and created a buzz. This time, the program was organized with the theme of ‘Operation Sindhur’.
This ceremony, which showcases Telangana culture, traditions and art forms, is a symbol of intimacy. Film personalities Nagarjuna and Brahmanandam were felicitated in this program. Not only film and political personalities but also poets and social leaders participated in this.
Among the participants were Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma, former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Ministers Manoharlal Khattar, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Jayanth Choudhary, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Srinivas Bhupathi Varma, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka, minister Komatireddy Venkata Reddy, former
Governor Vidyasagar Rao, retired Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Justice NV Ramana, BJP MP Laxman, MLA Sujana Chaudhary. CPI leader Narayana, Telangana Jana Samithi President Professor Kodandaram, and MRPS founder Mandakrishna Madiga were also present.
Bandaru Dattatreya welcomed all of them with scarves. 87 types of special Telangana dishes were prepared for the guests coming to Alai Balai. A feast was arranged for the guests with delicious dishes like mutton, talakaya curry, paya, boti, chicken, fish curry, green soup, and sarva pindi. On the other hand, President Draupadi Murmu has already given a message regarding this program.
The Alai Balay program is continuing in a way that reflects the culture and food habits of Telangana, and he praised it for promoting culture and traditions. Dattatreya said that ‘Alai Balay’ is a celebration that promotes brotherhood.
The former Governor said that it brings people from all walks of life together and showcases the great culture of Telangana. He clarified that it serves as a social gathering to spread unity and community values among the people. The President said that he wants the Alai Balay celebrations to be held grandly.
