Minister Ponnam Prabhakar Asks political parties To submit Affidavits In High Court supporting BC Bill

Minister Ponnam Prabhakar demanded that all the political parties that supported the BC Reservation Bill in the Legislative Assembly submit affidavits in High Court stating that they fully support the reservations for the weaker sections. The minister demanded that the court be informed that they supported the increase in reservations for the weaker sections with a unanimous vote in the Legislative Assembly.

He recalled that all the political parties unanimously supported the BC Reservation bill in the Legislative Assembly. Stating that the Telangana society is watching, the minister said that there are 8 members of parliament for the BJP from Telangana and BJP MLA Payal Shankar has fully supported it in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

Moreover, he said that the BJP state president also said that they are not protesting anywhere against the BC reservations in the local body elections and are providing full support. However, Prabhakar was furious that while they were trying to hide on one side, they were trying to stab themselves in the stomach.

He said that when the previous government brought a 50% cap in the Panchayat Raj Act, it was made a law by removing that cap through special meetings and sending it to the Governor. However, he expressed concern that the Governor has not yet approved it and the bill has to be approved. He said that the Telangana government has taken all kinds of steps with sincerity and has also moved forward on legal issues.

The Minister stated that the Election Commission has released a schedule for the smooth conduct of the elections and the Telangana government stands as an example for the country. These are the local body elections related to the state. He said that this decision has been taken in the local body elections to ensure social justice. He said that all the parties with different views on the issue of weaker sections have come forward with consensus.

Participating in the Shami Puja being held at the Shiva temple under the auspices of Husnabad Municipality on Dussehra, the minister said that “I am urging the petitioner from the temple premises, who went to High Court against BC Reservations please realize that reservations for weaker sections are not against anyone”.

He assured that there is no problem with SC, ST, EWS reservations in the Constitution and in the law. “Justice is in the social aspect. We have lifted the restriction in 2018 and made it a law.. They are not obstacles”, he added.
