Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and her husband Abhishek Bachchan have filed a fresh petition in the Delhi High Court against a YouTube channel for hosting AI-generated videos using Aishwarya’s likeness without her consent. The couple is seeking damages of ₹4 crore, citing unauthorized use of her photos and videos, which continues despite a previous court ruling in Aishwarya’s favour prohibiting such content.
The Delhi High Court had earlier ordered e-commerce and online platforms, including Google, to remove and block URLs containing AI-generated content of Aishwarya within 72 hours of receiving notice. The court had also directed the Ministry of IT and Communications to ensure that the identified URLs be blocked within seven days. The ruling emphasized that misuse of her photos causes financial harm and damages her reputation and dignity, while reaffirming protection of her publicity and personal rights.
Despite the court orders, a YouTube channel hosting AI-generated videos of Aishwarya continues to operate, with 259 videos identified, including clips featuring both Aishwarya and Abhishek alongside other individuals. As Google and associated platforms reportedly failed to comply with the court directives, the Bachchans have approached the High Court again to enforce the orders and seek compensation for the ongoing infringement.
