Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has urged the central government to declare the Medaram Mahajatara as a national festival. He demanded that funds of Rs. 1000 crores be allocated, just like those allocated for the Kumbh Mela. He inaugurated the reconstruction work of the Sammakka and Saralamma pavilions and premises at the Medaram Jatara in Mulugu district on Tuesday.
He spoke at a review meeting held with tribals, officials and public representatives on the reconstruction master plan, and later at a public meeting held in Medaram. “Thousands of crores are being given to the Kumbh Mela. But for some reason, the center is not coming to give a single rupee to our tribal Kumbh Mela or to recognize it as a national festival. Kumbh Mela is not only Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh. Sammakka and Saralamma located in the Mulugu forests of Telangana are also great temples. They are nicknamed for fighting spirit and manliness”, he said.
The Chief Minister asserted that the Sammakka and Saralamma Jatara, which raised the flag by rebelling against the monarchy, should be recognized as a national festival. He urged Union ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, who won from Telangana, to focus on this issue. He said that Sammakka and Saralamma are an inspiration for struggle and manliness, and that he has been visiting their mothers since he was elected as an MLA.
CM Revath Reddy recalled that on February 6, 2023, he took the blessings of Sammakka and Saralamma in Medaram and embarked on a padayatra from here, and announced that he would take away the rule of the nobility from the rule of the people. He said that the people have blessed him with the blessings of those mothers, and today he is moving forward with the determination to develop.
CM Revanth said that the Sammakka, Saralamma Gaddela and Premises Development and Reconstruction Program is a great opportunity for him and Minister Seethakka in this life. He said that this is not a responsibility, but an emotion with responsibility. He assured that they will spend any number of crores for the development of this temple. He revealed that they have set a target to complete these works in 100 days before the start of the fair next year.
