Megastar Chiranjeevi on Sunday penned a heartfelt message marking 47 years since the release of his debut film Pranam Khareedu (1978). Recalling the milestone, the actor thanked fans for their unwavering love and support throughout his journey.
Chiranjeevi wrote that the film “breathed life” into him as an actor and gave him an identity as a family member to audiences before elevating him to the stature of a “Megastar.” He credited his 155-film career and numerous awards to the selfless affection of Telugu moviegoers, adding that the bond of love with his fans would continue forever.
Though Punadi Rallu was his first film as a lead, Pranam Khareedu, directed by K. Vasu, released earlier. Chiranjeevi played the role of Narasimha alongside Rao Gopal Rao, Jayasudha, and Chandramohan. As the film completed 47 years, industry colleagues and fans took to social media to congratulate him.
On the work front, Chiranjeevi is currently shooting for Anil Ravipudi’s Mana Shankara Varaprasad Garu, slated for Sankranti 2026, and Vassishta’s socio-fantasy Vishwambhara, scheduled for summer 2026. He also has projects lined up with directors Srikanth Odela and Bobby.
