YS Jagan Mentions of Resigning Along with 11 MLAs, 4 MPs, challenges cancel of Membership

Confirming his attitude of not attending Assembly sessions, former chief minister and YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy dared the coalition government to react. He asked “Will membership be canceled, if we do not attend the Legislative Assembly? Let us see what they do”.

Addressing the Legislative Party meeting of the party at his Tadepalli residence two days ago, first mentioned resigning from the Assembly, stating that “Let us resign along with 11 MLAs and four MPs”.

He responded when  several MLAs mentioned the repeated statements made by the Speaker and Deputy Speaker that their memberships would be cancelled if they did not come to the Legislative Assembly sessions. However, Jagan’s reaction to resigning from the Assembly revealed two days after.

Moreover, Jagan has reportedly spoken in a challenging attitude. “Where is the provision to cancel memberships if members are absent from the Legislative Assembly? The Speaker has been repeatedly speaking in and outside the Assembly to discredit the MLAs by saying”, he asked.

Indicating that they are aware of the consequences, he said that “Some members are signing the attendance register without coming to the Assembly and taking salaries. Why do they sign without coming to the Legislative Assembly?”.

In the past, he recalled that when “Chandrababu Naidu was absent from the Assembly for a year and a half, did he not take salary allowances? Wasn’t there anyone who told the ruling party about the rules and regulations of the Legislative Assembly that day? We thought that Chandrababu would leave if he left”.

“Before 2019, when I went on a padayatra, there was no such discussion. Why? Did I say that if the MLAs were going to the Assembly, they should not go?”, he added.

Stating that the TDP, Jana Sena and BJP are the ruling party in the House and only YSRCP is in the opposition, he asked the Speaker how much time he will give you as opposition MLAs to speak on public issues? If any MLAs are going to the Assembly, he advised them to go with former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy.

“It took me three hours to speak to the media on three issues on the first day of the Assembly session. If you are going to give me that much time to speak, then I will attend the Assembly”, Jagan told the MLAs.
