Three YSRCP MLCs B Kalyana Chakravarthy, Karri Padmasree and Marri Rajasekhar joined the TDP, in the presence of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Friday evening. They were invited to the party by Chandrababu Naidu with the TDP shawl. He expressed confidence that these three MLCs who joined the TDP will help strengthen the party with their experience.
All three have already resigned from the primary membership of the YSRCP party and their MLC posts. However, Legislative Council Chairman Moshen Raju has not yet taken any decision on these resignations. The decision of these three to join the TDP has gained importance in view of their political future. They criticized the chairman for not accepting their resignations in the council.
They said that they have been waiting for six months for the approval of the resignations and that they do not have confidence that their resignations will be accepted. Marri Rajasekhar alleged that some YSRCP elders behind the council chairman are preventing them from accepting their resignations.
They made key comments that they will go to the council from Monday and challenge YCP leaders to do what they want. TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao, MP Lavu Srikrishna Devarayalu, MLAs Sunil, Vijayasri, Pulivarthi Nani, MLCs Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Perabathula Rajasekhar, Ramgopal Reddy, Kancharla Srikanth, BT Naidu, former MLC Mantena Satyanarayana, Forest Development Corporation Chairman Sujay Krishna Ranga Rao and others participated in this program.
Analysts believe that there are many political calculations behind this change from YSRCP to TDP. Some leaders, who felt that YSRCP was in a weak position compared to the coalition government that recently came to power in the state, are commenting that they are changing parties for their political security in the future.
It is said that these changes are likely to have an impact not only at the MLC level, but also in the local body elections and the upcoming assembly elections. On the other hand, the YSRCP is likely to take this development seriously. Even if they resign from their MLC posts, the situation of not accepting them may lead to political disputes.
