Mythological animated blockbuster Mahavatar Narsimha, which created waves at the box office, is set for its OTT premiere. The film will begin streaming on Netflix in multiple languages, including Telugu, on September 19 at 12:30 PM, as officially announced by the platform on social media.
Directed by Kannada filmmaker Ashwin Kumar, the film is based on Lord Vishnu’s incarnation as Narasimha. Produced on a ₹40 crore budget, it earned ₹60.5 crore in just eight days and went on to collect over ₹300 crore during its 50+ day theatrical run, setting a record as the fastest high-grossing Indian animated film. The film has also challenged the perception that animation is meant only for children.
Set in Indian mythology, the story depicts how the demon king Hiranyakashipu, granted a near-immortality boon by Lord Brahma, tries to kill his son Prahlada for his unwavering devotion to Vishnu. The film portrays how Vishnu emerges as Narasimha to protect Prahlada and ultimately slay Hiranyakashipu, restoring dharma.
