Controversial filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma is once again under scrutiny after a case was registered against him at the Rayadurgam Police Station in Hyderabad. The complaint pertains to his web series Dahanam, which has drawn attention for its Maoist-themed storyline. The case was filed by retired IPS officer Anjana Sinha, who alleged that her name was used in the series without her permission.
Anjana Sinha claimed that certain scenes in Dahanam falsely suggested her involvement or statements, which she said was entirely untrue. She approached the police, emphasizing that her name and persona were referenced in the series without her consent or prior information. She requested that action be taken against Varma for allegedly misusing her identity.
The Rayadurgam Police have registered the case under five separate sections and have initiated an investigation. Varma, who has previously faced controversies related to his films and remarks on Andhra Pradesh politics, now confronts fresh legal challenges with Dahanam, highlighting the ongoing scrutiny surrounding his works.
