BRS Working President KT Rama Rao has filed a defamation case against Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Along with Bandi Sanjay, a petition has been filed in the Hyderabad City Civil Court against several media organizations and social media platforms. KTR has filed this case for making baseless allegations and publishing false stories in the phone tapping case.
He has demanded that the false news be removed and a public apology be issued. He has demanded that Rs. 10 crore be paid as compensation. KTR has stated in his petition that Bandi Sanjay made false and indecent comments on August 8, 2025. In these comments, he said that the Telangana SIB (Special Intelligence Branch) was misused, phone tapping was linked to financial irregularities.
He said that these comments were widely broadcast by TV channels like ABN Telugu, NTV, TV5, V6, ANN Telugu, as well as digital platforms like India Today, NDTV, Deccan Herald, Times of India, as well as social media platforms like X (Twitter), YouTube, Google, Meta (Facebook/Instagram). He said that these comments were not only defamatory but also intended to damage his personality.
Despite sending a legal notice on August 11, 2025, he deplored that Bandi Sanjay refused to apologize unconditionally. That is why he approached the court, KTR said in the petition. He said that Bandi Sanjay was only involved in “maligning the political party with extreme accusations”. The complaint also stressed that such irresponsible and defamatory remarks by a ruling Union Minister will have serious consequences for the credibility and dignity of public representatives.
In the petition, KTR demanded an unconditional apology from Bandi Sanjay Kumar for the baseless allegations. He also requested that orders be issued to restrain the accused from publishing and broadcasting content that would damage his reputation again. He also requested that orders be issued to immediately remove the articles, videos and posts published on online platforms and media portals.
