Bengaluru: Cybercrime incidents continue to rise across the country, affecting both ordinary citizens and celebrities. Kannada actor Upendra and his wife Priyanka recently fell victim to a cyberattack. Upendra revealed that on Monday morning, someone contacted them regarding an item ordered by his wife, instructing them to enter certain hashtags and numbers to facilitate delivery. Soon after, their phone was reportedly hacked.
He further stated that his personal phone was also compromised and warned fans and the public that any messages demanding money from their phone numbers or social media accounts should not be responded to. Upendra emphasized that people should not transfer money if anyone calls claiming to be them and requests funds.
The actor confirmed that they will be filing a complaint with the police regarding the incident. Sharing the matter via a video post on X (formerly Twitter), Upendra urged his fans to remain vigilant and exercise caution in the face of growing cybercrime threats, highlighting the importance of awareness in preventing such incidents.
