Former MLC Pothula Sunitha has made a fresh political move by joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her decision comes after resigning from both the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) and her MLC position. However, her resignation is still awaiting formal approval, as Legislative Council Chairman Moshen Babu has not yet taken action on it.
Sunitha, the wife of Pothula Suresh, who was a close aide of the late Paritala Ravi, first entered politics through the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). After Ravi’s assassination, the couple stayed away from active politics for several years before making a comeback through TDP in Prakasam district. Sunitha initially won as Alampur ZPTC and later contested as an MLA but faced defeat. She was later nominated to the Legislative Council as an MLC.
After TDP’s downfall, she switched to YSRCP, where she strongly criticised Chandrababu Naidu and his family. But following YSRCP’s recent electoral defeat, Sunitha resigned from her MLC role and distanced herself from the party. With TDP unwilling to take her back, she has now chosen the BJP as her new political platform.
