Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu said that the Bhogapuram Airport services will be ready by June 2026 and that 86 percent of the work has been completed in Bhogapuram. Rammohan Naidu, who arrived to inspect the Bhogapuram airport works on Sunday, first inspected the construction work of the Bhogapuram International Airport at the field level on Saturday.
Later, Minister Rammohan Naidu said that meetings are being held from time to time with the aim of completing it ahead of schedule. He said that the work has been going on at a fast pace for the last 14 months and that he has visited the site 7 times so far and reviewed the project. He said that the Bhogapuram Airport is ready to start by June 2026.
He said that the earthwork is 100 percent, ATC – 90 percent, runway 100 percent, this terminal 80 percent, taxiway – 98 percent, connectivity roads 70 percent of the work has been completed. He said that the construction of the remaining buildings is 62 percent and the beautification will also be completed by December.
The Union Minister said that 7 points have been identified to reach the airport from Vizag City. He said that preparations are also underway to set up a metro and an elevated corridor. He deplored that the previous government did not make proper alignment in the case of the beach corridor. He said that the DPR of that project is going to be prepared. He said that the firm is also ready.
Rammohan Naidu said that the people of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and Visakhapatnam will benefit from the beach corridor. He said that there is no other airport in the country that is so beautiful and pleasant. He said that GMR, which is from this area, is taking up the construction of the project with pride and even the minor problems existing locally will be cleared.
He said that the construction will be done so that 60 lakh people can travel annually and have already tested one flight for validation. He said that we will test it again in December. The minister explained that Bhogapuram will be the main center to mark the beginning of development.
