BRS Working President KTR and CM Revanth Reddy have been locked in a heated exchange for quite some time now. As soon as Revanth utters critical statements against KCR, KTR is prompt with incisive counter-attacks. This kind of back-and-forth has only gone up on the intensity scale over a period of time, as the two leaders have gone all out with their criticisms. KTR’s recent remarks have again upped the ante in this political war recently.
A bold and controversial line was taken by KTR, where he dared Revanth to make the 10 defected MLAs resign and meet the electorate. KTR’s own words were, “If Revanth has the guts, he should make the 10 MLAs who defected resign and go to elections. That’s when we will see who has real political strength.” This comment has caused waves on the political front both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and heated debates have ensued.
During his speech on this issue, KTR explained that he rarely ever uses this kind of language but felt compelled to use it so that Revanth could grasp his point since this was the only way he could make him realize. KTR also raised an eyebrow to Revanth’s statement that Congress had done something substantial while they were in power for two years. He went on taunting Revanth, asking him to get 10 defected MLAs to resign, which would lay bare each side’s real political might.
During a recent rally in Gadwal, KTR made some startling claims, stating that a by-election in Gadwal was virtually certain within six months. He claimed with certainty that BRS would win with a minimum of 50,000 votes as a margin. KTR also attacked the Gadwal MLA for allying with a corrupt alliance, telling the people of Gadwal to get together and topple him, giving a stern warning to those who cheat the people.
The political climate in Telangana is getting more and more heated, particularly after the role played by the Supreme Court in the issue of defection and what the Speaker did to the rebel MLAs. The 10 defected MLAs who switched from BRS to Congress are now under growing pressure. KTR and other BRS leaders are targeting Revanth and these defected MLAs, calling for their resignations and inviting them to contest elections.
