CM Revanth Reddy Directs To organize Godavari Pushkarams As South India’s Kumbha Mela

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed the officials to make advance arrangements to organize the Godavari Pushkarams in a grand manner as the South Indian Kumbh Mela. He directed them  to make arrangements on a permanent basis and prepare necessary advance plans for that.

He ordered that the development of the main temples along the banks of the Godavari in the state be given utmost priority. In the same vein, he said that the arrangements for the Pushkarams should be made by estimating the influx of devotees and providing basic facilities. He said that a special plan should be prepared to provide facilities to the lakhs of devotees who will come to take a bath in the Pushkarams without any shortcomings.

A review meeting was held with the Chief Minister and officials at the Command Control Center on Friday on the arrangements and advance preparations for the Godavari Pushkarams. Minister Konda Surekha, CM Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Endowment Department Principal Secretary Shailaja Ramayyar, CMO Principal Secretary Seshadri, CM Principal Secretary Srinivasa Raju, Religious Advisor Govinda Hari and others participated.

Godavari Pushkaralu will begin from July 23rd in 2027. The Godavari river, which enters Telangana from Maharashtra, has a coastline of 560 kilometers in the state. Officials explained to the Chief Minister that there is a need to set up Pushkara ghats at about 74 places. He instructed that all the major temples along the Godavari banks from Basara to Bhadrachalam, along with Dharmapuri and Kaleshwaram, should be developed first.

Revanth Reddy said that the main temples will see a lot of devotees and the development of the Pushkara Ghats in the vicinity of the temples should be given top priority.  He suggested that even if two lakh devotees flock to the Pushkara Ghats on a single day, roads and highways should be constructed without any problems.

He made it clear that there should be no traffic problems, including vehicle parking, drinking water, bathing Ghats, and all the necessary accommodation facilities for the devotees. He said that all the temples in the Godavari basin from Basara to Bhadrachalam should be visited at the field level and a list of necessary development works should be prepared there.

The CM instructed the officials to appoint consultancies who have experience in the development of Pushkaralu, temples, and facilities required for devotees in various states in the past, along with the Maha Kumbh Mela.
