In a big boost for BJP’s BC tag in Telangana, State BC Commission for Chairman and known BC activist Dr Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan joined BJP on Monday, in the presence of State party chief N Ramachander Rao, OBC Morcha national president Dr K Lakshman and Rajya Sabha member R Krishnaiah.
Welcoming him into the party, Ramachander Rao said it is a clear indication that all BCs and MBC communities are with the BJP. In view of the current political situation on the implementation of 42 per cent BC reservations in the state, youth, intellectuals, former MLAs, and MPs are increasingly joining the BJP as people and public representatives believe that BJP is the only party that protects the rights of the BC communities, he said.
Dr Krishna Mohan, writer, BC activist and social worker, has a distinguished record of public service, having served as a member of the BC Commission twice in undivided Andhra Pradesh, once in the newly formed state of Telangana, and later as the Chairman of the state BC Commission.
“The BJP is the only party that can do real justice to the BCs. The BJP is also the only one that can stop the conspiracies of the Revanth government to convert BC reservations into religious Muslim reservations in Telangana”, said Dr Krishna Mohan.
“The BJP is the only party that is officially going to conduct a caste census along with the population census since the country gained independence. I believe that joining the BJP, which is laying the foundations of true social justice, will give me the opportunity to serve the people honestly,” he added.
He criticized the Revanth Reddy government for making mistakes and trying to deceive in the matter of 42% reservation for BCs. He said that the main opposition BRS has also not shown true sincerity in this matter.
“My inclusion is not for positions, but for service. My entire life is dedicated to the rights of BCs,” said Dr Krishna Mohan. He recalled on this occasion that he had previously strongly stated that the 4% reservation given to Muslims on the basis of religion was unconstitutional. They demanded that the share of BCs be protected and reservations based on caste should be increased.
Dr Laxman alleged that deceiving BCs is in the Congress party’s DNA and questioned Revanth Reddy government what made his government make amendment in Section 285(A) of the Panchayat Raj Act to give a 42 per cent reservation to BCs so late. If they were truly sincere about increasing reservations for BCs, they should have made this decision 22 months ago, he accused.
