Fulfilling the aspirations of the people of the drought-stricken areas of the state, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu brought the Krishna water of the Handreeniva to the last ayacut area of Kuppam constituency.
The Krishnamma water, which traveled hundreds of kilometers from the Srisailam project through the Handreeniva Sujala Sravanthi project, reached the Paramasamudram tank in Kuppam constituency and the Chief Minister Chandrababu expressed his gratitude by offering `Jala Harathi’ to Krishna rivers at Paramasamudram tank in Kuppam constituency.
A large number of Kuppam farmers gathered and unveiled a pylon to mark this great event. The Krishna water, which traveled 738 kilometers from the Srisailam project and passed through the combined Kurnool and Anantapur districts, reached the Paramasamudram tank in Kuppam constituency, the last area in the second phase of the Handreeniva Sujala Sravanti. The Chief Minister offered turmeric and saffron to Krishnamma amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and gave water to the Paramasamudram tank.
The Chief Minister said on this occasion that his birth would be meaningful if every acre of land in the state could be irrigated. He made it clear that if Polavaram- Banakacharla is completed and the connection from Vamsadhara to the Penna river can be made, there will be no drought. He said that Telangana leaders should know the benefits of river linking.
Chandrababu said that as important as storing water in reservoirs is, it is even more important to make the land a reservoir. Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, MLC Kancharla Srikanth, Kuppam local TDP leaders and people participated in this water conservation program. Before performing aarti to the Krishna waters, a pylon was inaugurated on the banks of the canal. Chief Minister Chandrababu visited the photo exhibition set up at the Kuppam branch canal.
Minister Nimmala and irrigation officials explained to the CM the level at which the reservoirs and ponds were filled in the middle. Chandrababu examined the maps displayed explaining the process of water reaching the Kuppam through Handri-Neeva. The CM ordered arrangements to be made to show live through CCTV cameras how water is being filled in the reservoirs. The way the flows are coming so that the people can understand.
CM Chandrababu suggested that a live demonstration should be given explaining the value of water, how much is being spent on irrigation, and how many days it took to move the water. He said that there is a need to raise awareness among children and youth about the value of water and the steps being taken by the government, as well as to inform them about the history.
