Boney Kapoor has filed a petition in the Madras High Court, alleging that three individuals have illegally taken possession of property owned by his late wife, actress Sridevi. He claimed that the rights to the property were unlawfully appropriated and sought the court’s intervention to ensure justice.
According to the petition, Sridevi purchased the property in April 1988 from MC Sambandam Mudaliar in Madras. Boney Kapoor stated that she acquired the property only after thoroughly reviewing all related documents. He added that Mudaliar had three sons and two daughters, and Sridevi had verified their inheritance certificates before finalizing the purchase.
However, the sons from Mudaliar’s second marriage later claimed a share in the property and filed an appeal at the Tahsildar’s office. Boney Kapoor alleged that government officials facilitated the illegal transfer of property rights to these individuals. The petition requests that the fraudulent documents be canceled and justice restored. Kapoor also noted that Mudaliar had entered a second marriage while his first wife, the seller, was still alive.
Justice Anand Venkatesh has directed the Tambaram Taluka Tahsildar to decide on the matter within four weeks. Boney Kapoor married Sridevi in 1996, and the couple had two daughters, Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi passed away in 2018.
