Among CMs, Revanth, Stalin, Chandrababu Have Highest Number of criminal cases

The Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) has revealed that 42 percent of the country’s Chief Ministers are facing charges related to serious crimes, according to the affidavits submitted by them to the Election Commission. According to this report, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu have the most criminal cases against them.

The ADR report has become a sensation in the wake of the Narendra Modi-led government introducing the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, which aims to make the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers, Union and State Ministers lose their posts if they are in custody for 30 consecutive days.

It is noteworthy that Revanth Reddy has the most cases among the 10 Chief Ministers facing the most criminal charges in the country. The ADR revealed that 13 out of the 31 Chief Ministers of the country have declared criminal cases against them. Of these, 10 Chief Ministers are facing serious charges such as attempted murder, kidnapping, bribery and harassment.

Seven of these 10 Chief Ministers are from opposition-ruled states, two are from BJP allies and one is from the BJP. If the charges against these 10 Chief Ministers are proven, they can be sentenced to a maximum of five years and more. There are cases related to serious crimes such as election offences, damage to the public exchequer, attacks, attempted murder, kidnapping and rape.

Revanth Reddy has a total of 89 cases against him. Out of these, 72 are related to serious crimes.  MK Stalin (DMK) is at the second place in the list of Chief Ministers with the most cases. He has a total of 42 cases against him. Out of these, 11 are serious crimes. Chandrababu Naidu (TDP) is at the third position in this list. There are a total of 19 cases against him. There are 32 serious criminal charges.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is at the fourth position. There are a total of 13 cases against him. Of these, 6 are serious criminal charges. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren (JMM) is at the fifth position. There are a total of 5 cases against him. Of these, 7 are serious criminal charges. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis (BJP) is at the sixth position. There are a total of 4 cases against him. Of these, 2 are serious criminal charges.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu (Congress) is at the seventh position in the list. There are a total of 4 cases against him. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan (CPM) is at the eighth position. There are a total of 2 cases against him, both of which are related to serious criminal charges. Sikkim Chief Minister PS Tamang (SKM) is at the 9th position in the list. He has only one case against him. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann (AAP) is at the 10th position and has only one case against him.
