As the Narendra Modi-led Union Cabinet is expected to be expanded soon after the conclusion of ongoing Parliament monsoon session, the TDP is expecting that it will get a chance for one more of its MPs to be inducted into the union cabinet. This time TDP MP from Rayalaseema is sure to get a chance.
Presently, there are three ministers from AP in the union cabinet, of which TDP is having a cabinet minister K Ramamohan Naidu from North Andhra and P. Chandrasekhar as minister of state from Coastal Andhra. BJP’s lone minister of state Srinivas Varma is from Bhimavaram (Coastal). From Rayalaseema quota two TDP MPs are said to be making their efforts.
There is a contest between Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy and Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao. The possibility of giving the ministerial post in the SC community quota seems high. Based on this, there is a good chance of giving the Union Minister of State to Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasad Rao.
He belongs to Bapatla district, served as an Income Tax Officer. After that, he made his political debut in the 2024 elections at the invitation of Chandrababu Naidu. He won as an MP by a majority of 2.23 lakh votes against the closest candidate of the YCP, Reddeppa.
As an MP, he stayed in the constituency for 15-20 days a month and focused on the development of the constituency. In a year, he started development with more than Rs.10 crores of MP funds. Coalition activists say that he worked hard to solve the drinking water problem in villages, especially with the construction of CC roads and railway bridges for connectivity between villages with the new Sixth Line.
He is the deputy floor leader of Parliament and a member of the SC and ST Parliament panel. Daggumalla is active in three other national committees. Prime Minister Modi had previously personally congratulated Daggumalla Prasad Rao for his work in these five committees.
Prime Minister Modi has reportedly suggested Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to suggest one of the nominees from his party to be inducted into the union cabinet. Moreover, former state BJP chief D Purandeswari is also making hectic efforts for a berth in the union cabinet.
