Telangana Industries and IT Minister Duddila Sridhar Babu wondered that the Center allocated a semiconductor project for AP, which so far not even an acre of land was spared for it, ignoring the claims of Telangana, which is ready with all infrastructure facilities, including land allocation.
He said that Telangana is fully prepared to set up a world-class advanced manufacturing unit in the semiconductor sector, and all aspects like permissions, infrastructure, skilled workers, land allotment have been completed. However, he criticized the central government for giving this project to Andhra Pradesh, which does not have complete arrangements even in land allocation, leaving Telangana aside.
He expressed strong objection to allocating this project to Andhra Pradesh, which has not allocated even a single acre of land, despite all kinds of permissions and infrastructure facilities being ready in Telangana. He said that the Telangana government has already allocated 10 acres of land in Maheshwaram, a suburb of Hyderabad, for a semiconductor packaging unit in Telangana.
Sridhar Babu said that all kinds of subsidies and permissions have been completed in record time. He said that the company is ready for the investment required for this project and the Telangana government is only waiting for permission from the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
He said that despite the land, permissions, investor assurances and a clear implementation plan being ready in Telangana, the central government has shown its hand. He alleged that this decision taken by the central government is not an administrative error but a stepmotherly love being shown towards Telangana.
He deplored that it is not reasonable to give priority to a proposal that is just on paper, leaving aside a state with ready infrastructure, investor guarantees, and a clear plan. The Minister said that such politically motivated decisions would send the wrong signals to global investors and would be an insult to Telangana. Sridhar Babu made it clear that they are not ready to lose their rightful place in the growth of the national semiconductor industry.
