Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has given the green signal to set up the first coffee park in the state at Narsipatnam as its center. The park will be made available at a level where everything from the crop to the cup of coffee (bean to cup) will be produced in one place. The Andhra Pradesh government is working to bring more recognition to Araku coffee internationally and expand the market.
In this regard, it is known that the government signed an MoU with Tata for the branding of Araku coffee ont the International Tribal Day held in Paderu on August 9. It is estimated that 200 people will be employed through this park. CM Chandrababu approved the proposal of Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu. He also virtually laid the foundation stone of this park, which will be set up in Shettipalem village in Makavaripalem, on Sunday.
Work will start from September 1. It is known that an Araku coffee stall was opened in Parliament recently. The officials of the Tribal Cooperative Society (GCC) have been trying to set up a coffee refining plant in Narsipatnam for a long time. In the past, attempts were made to build one in Daunur, but they did not materialize. Their efforts have paid off over the years and the construction of the park is becoming a reality.
The GCC is currently relying on the APFDC center in Narsipatnam to refine the coffee beans grown in 10 mandals of the Paderu Agency. However, for filter coffee, it has to go to Bangalore. There will be no such problems anymore. The beans will be refined to international standards in the coffee park itself, made into powder and exported abroad.
Meanwhile, the central government is also supporting this project. It has sanctioned Rs. 10 crore for this. Yards will be set up to dry the beans collected from the plantations, godowns for storage, modern technology will be used for roasting, grinding, blinding and packing. This process will be carried out using state-of-the-art machinery and an automatic system. A special research and development lab called the Coffee Cup Test will also be set up.
